Maplas

READ. MAP. CHECK. PRACTISE.

Turn a PDF into an editable AI study map

From reading a chapter to testing what you know.

To make a mind map from a PDF in Maplas, add the PDF as a source, choose a focused topic and create the map. Then check the explanations, add your own notes and use quizzes to practise.

1. Pick a source and a question

Use a PDF you are allowed to upload, with readable text. Start with one chapter. A question such as “How do these three processes connect?” is easier to inspect than an entire course in one map. Check that the document text is readable in the viewer before relying on the output.

2. Create the first map

On the Maplas start screen, name your map and attach the PDF in the sources area. Create the map, then review the generated branches. For example, a map about photosynthesis might separate light-dependent reactions from the Calvin cycle. This is an illustrative example, not a claim about a particular uploaded PDF.

3. Check a node against the PDF

Open a node's Source reference and compare the explanation with the original. Where a supporting quote matches the extracted source text, Maplas can show a highlight. Otherwise a reference may identify the document or page without an exact highlight.

4. Turn the map into your own notes

Keep the PDF viewer beside the canvas. Select an important passage to turn it into a node, add a figure from the PDF, and write or draw your own explanation. Rearrange related concepts so that the layout helps you follow the argument.

5. Practise

Generate a quiz, use study mode for self-testing and return to scheduled reviews. Flashcards can also be exported as TSV for Anki or Quizlet.

A quick check before your next study session

Can I use a web link or start without a PDF?

Yes. Maplas also accepts web sources and topics. A topic-only map is not automatically grounded in your course materials. Add the source you actually need to study when alignment with a lecture or document matters.
